This 2 Days Ankole Community Tour is short but an interesting Uganda community tour that will offer you an opportunity to explore the Ankole culture in south western part of Uganda. The tour will take you through Uganda Equator Crossing at Kayabwe, Mpambire drum village and then it connects you to Igongo Cultural Centre famous for having one of the best museums in western Uganda, traditionally referred to as the Eriijukiro. The 2 days tour will start and end in Kamapala-the Capital City of Uganda.

Detailed Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Mbarara town & Visit to Igongo Cultural Centre.

After breakfast, our experienced driver guide will pick you up from your Kampala place of stay and depart from Kampala city heading to Mbarara town in south western Uganda 252km about 3-4hrs. The journey to Mbarara town will take you through Mpambire Drum village where you will enjoy short drumming session and the Uganda Equator crossing Kayabwe, where you will have stopover for marvelous water experiments and amazing photo shots. Thereafter, continue with the drive to Igongo Cultural Centre through the farmed hill sides and the wonderful rangelands of Ankole. On arrival at Igongo cultural Centre, you will have thrilling Ugandan traditional lunch and thereafter, embark on tour to one of the best museums in western Uganda, traditionally referred to as the Eriijukiro. In the Museum, you will enjoy the history of Ankole people, art and culture of the Ankole people in Western Uganda, Artifacts from the regalia, the traditional long horned cattle, and dressing of the Ankle people. Thereafter, you will head to nearby villages to interact with different local people, visit local schools, local homesteads among interesting features. Thereafter, you will retire back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Ankole Community Tour & Transfer to Kampala.

Early in the morning you will start the day by transferring to Kashari Village, approximately 40 minutes’ drive from Mbarara Town. On arrival on arrival to the village, you will pay a visit to Ruyonza community school, interact with the school children. Thereafter, proceed to visit some women projects in the Village that include farming projects, Saccos, Banyankole homesteads, Ankole cattle Ranches among others. These community visits are quite informative, educative and entertaining; they will offer you a different perspective to life in this part of the world, different from the urban settings. After exploring the community tour, drive back to Mbarara town to visit other places like the Banyankole Kingdom shrines. Retie back to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. After lunch, embark on drive back to the Kampala capital City. Along the way, you may have stopover at the Uganda Equator at Kayabwe where you will have an opportunity to stand in 2 hemispheres at the same time and take some photographs, Buy some crafts as souvenirs and also stop at the Mpambire drum village for drumming session. Thereafter, proceed to Kampala and on arrival, the driver guide will drive you to your Kampala place of stay or Entebbe international Airport for your scheduled flight back home.
